Subject: In water winter storage

I've decided to store Chardonnay in the water this winter up here in Michigan. Any suggestions on preparing thru hulls?

Hi, Tim.

Are you sure you want to do that ??? :-)

I did keep my boat in the water for one winter only, up here in the Polar Regions :-) and I can tell you this: "It's a PITA".

What I ended up doing is, closing ALL seacocks except the ones in the cockpit. I left the engine room doors open and ran a small 1500W heater, in the cabin (halfway setting, so it would go on/off by itself). When it got REALLY cold after a snow storm, the cockpit scuppers would freeze shut. Once or twice a week, I would go to the boat and throw some hot water down the drains just to keep them flowing.

It worked ok, but as I've said, a total PITA.

Bill
