Subject: We made it!

The two shake down runs went well, the new Westerbeke ran very well. And with the new 18X15 prop she has more than ample power. We needed that power when we took her from Warwick RI to Deep River CT. We ran into more wind and seas than expected, especially off Point Judith and in through Watch Hill Passage. The tide was turning and the following seas were substantial at Watch Hill. However, Tivoli is now docked in Deep River CT awaiting hauling for the Winter. We will try and finish off some electrical work this winter and rigging work in the spring. Her hull also needs painting, actually the list goes on and on, whats new. If all goes well next spring and summer we may leave in the late fall for our dream trip down the ICW and into the Caribe, we shall see? No promises, it takes time.

I guess I would not be truthful if I did not say that I did hit a sand bar in the CT river. Kind of embarrassing, but we were able to back her off and make the rest of the trip with no issues.

There, that is off my mind..

Great news. I know what it feels like to finally give birth to this baby. Congratulations. Hope we can hook up next summer.

Still a lot of work to do, particularly with the rigging, masthead and sailtracks. I will certainly stay in touch and would love to see two 40s sailing together in the bay.

Talk to you soon,

Mike
