FEATURED TRACK OF THE MONTH
(August 2022)
Written by Dick Stewart for his wife in 1998, “Judi” was released in the “Surfin’ the Southwest, Santa Fe style” CD album in 1999. He plays lead guitar, Judi’s late brother and one of the original Knights’ bassists, plays the Fender Jazz bass guitar, and Steve Hutchins, one of the Southwest’s standout drummers, provides the percussions.
The album is the Knights’ first instrumental CD release since the band’s return after a 35-year retirement.
Dick Stewart is 82-years of age today, and he’s not given up his desire to continue composing, playing his Jazzmaster, and recording. His son, Ritch has returned from a 7-year stay in Hawaii and is his right-hand man in the studio engineering, composing and backing his dad with his Fender Jazz bass.
“Why should I quit?” says Stewart. “My hands, fingers, mind, and desire are in good order, and I don’t have any physical problems. So why not?”
