 I'd have to question that, as the name "The Crickets" wasn't used until after "That'll Be The Day" was recorded at Norman Petty's studio during 1957.

In 1953, it would have been "The Buddy and Bob Show". After Buddy started playing Rock'N'Roll, the band name "Buddy Holly and The Two Tones" was used, followed by "Buddy Holly and The Three Tunes" when Buddy, Sonny et al went to Nashville to record.

Sonny didn't become a Cricket until after J.I and Joe B. split with Buddy in late 1958. Bob Montgomery was never a Cricket.
