 I believe Hawkins was the first artiste to travel in the Southern USA with a multiracial band. I read that they always took the stage armed with pistols. There was a quote I read once about them choosing a band name, and one of them said "why don't we call ourselves the red neck n***** lovers, 'cos that's what everybody else calls us."
