 Out in the west Texas town of El Paso...... sang Marty Robbins all those years ago. And something has bothered me ever since. The wild young cowboy was making a pass at Felina and Marty challenged his right to do so. "down went his hand to the gun that he wore"..... so he made the first move for his gun. Marty was therefore drawing in self defence. Surely in wild west days, that wasn't a foul evil deed and Marty should not have needed to run. Can any of our American friends confirm or otherwise that this was the accepted etiquette of the day?
