The Dixie EPs credit "Thumper Jones" on "Blue Suede Shoes," "Heartbreak Hotel" and "Folsom Prison Blues."
But I've just found another Dixie EP 45-502 with "Blue Suede Shoes" by "Thumper Jones," a track by Leon Payne ("Run Boy") AND a track credited to "George Jones," entitled, "I've Got Five Dollars." Why they have tracks credited to BOTH Thumper and George Jones is puzzling to me. And the B-side? "Heartbreak Hotel" and "Folsom Prison Blues" by Thumper Jones, and a third track, "Seasons of My Heart," credited to George Jones.
There were also reissues on the TOPS series - I saw a Youtube video which showed the vinyl - and the tracks happen to be credited only to George Jones. That one is the "hits of the day" disc to which you referred. I guess by then they decided that "Thumper's" career was over.
