 Hi Bjorn.

In this rare case, I think I have to defend M.E.H.

Buddy had just begun to savor the better things that fame can bring to an entertainer, so I'm pretty sure he wanted to live in nice digs, both for comfort and status reasons.

If M.E.H. originally suggested a modern and quite pricey
apartment (quite high if the actually rent was lower than suggested), I'm sure she did not need to twist Buddy's arm to get him to agree.
