 He was doing heroin. They didn't have a methodone solution back then. Junkies can not function without their fix. He definitely had to have it with him on the road. $36 worth of "H" would've kept him from buying a plane ticket even if he had REALLY been offered the seat. His BS story about his parent's $36 rent was nothing but junkie-rambling of the mouth. I have known two junkies in my life, and they were both functioning normally under the influence.
You couldn't tell that they were higher than a kite, just in a super good mood.
