Congratulations on your record deal, but I hope you don't think signing with Norton Records will be your personal rocket to stardom. This isn't 1958.

Nowadays lots of talented rock musicians work for years, tour endlessly, and receive no attention beyond a small fan base (if they're lucky). Many of them take part time jobs to help support themselves.

Today Rock 'n Roll is like Dixieland Jazz was in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Some musicians were certainly playing it for a diminishing number of fans, but they never achieved the glory that Louie Armstrong or Bix Beiderbecke did in their own day.

In the late '70s and early 1980s we saw a resurgence of Rockabilly and that was lots of fun. I lost interest when too many mediocre bands jumped on that trend. I realized I'd rather just listen to Gene Vincent and Eddie Cochran rather than the latest noisy and tasteless imitator.

Good luck with your recording. Just don't expect to become Elvis or Buddy. Those particular lightning bolts won't ever strike again.
