Great summation of a critical time and place.

This is the sort of thing that should be on a news wire, as the smaller "it happened when" stories that make it in print or only online, usually have ZERO historical significance.

The era you speak of was at the cusp of a pretty big upheaval
in rock and roll history, considering all the elements that would soon occur, and those that had recently taken place, including E.P. joining the army.

Within 18 months of the date you have highlighted, many observers feel the end of the rock and roll era had arrived.

I recently looked at the brilliant dream like film American Graffiti for the first time in quite a while. The film is set in the spring of 1962. I think we all recall John Milner's famous quote about the state of rock and roll
by that time.
