I suppose everybody has some kind of Post Christmas 'Come Down' in mood. The festivities are over, its cold, quite often miserable outside, and you are longing for spring and better weather and some warmth!
But for Buddy Holly fans, there's more to it I think. Each January, Buddy becomes even more on my mind than usual. I think back to 1959, him getting ready for the forthcoming Inter Dance Party tour. Getting his band together, with Tommy Allsup even staying with Buddy and Maria in their New York Apartment. In fact, he can be heard knocking on the door on the undoubted 'Learning The Game' recording from the Apartment Tapes.
As the dates go by, I start thinking of back in 1959...he left for the tour this day, joined the tour with Ritchie, Jape, Dion and The Belmonts, and Frankie Sardo,then during the dates of the WDP, I think to where they were. Its the count down to the inevitable...we all know how it ends, when it ended. The story is never going to change, very sadly.
It definitely is on my mind...the same thing happens every year and I bet there are a lot more who are the same.
