The Wrecking Crew were some of the best rock and pop musicians ever recorded during the '60s. Their work was amazing.

Can we step back a bit though, and see it from another angle? That this is the reason some pop and rock & roll music wasn't respected by jazz and classical musicians?

If you bought an album of Billy Strayhorn or Bill Evans, you knew you were hearing them. It would have been unthinkable for a jazz fan to buy a Charlie Parker record only to hear an anonymous session musician do the actual saxophone playing.
