 I absolutely agree about Carl Perkins. I figured that point had been made earlier, and in terms of solo Beatle work, there are plenty of examples of all four Fabs expressing their love for Carl in recorded examples, collaborations, and in interviews.

George performed under the pseudonym "Carl Harrison" for a time in the pre-fame days ('58-'60) and was one of the hosts of that wonderful 1985 Cinemax special featuring Dave Edmunds, Ringo, Clapton, Rosanne Cash, Lee Rocker, Slim Jim Phantom, and perhaps a few others I'm missing, all playing alongside Carl.

John, on the first non-experimental solo Beatle release, performed Carl's version of "Blue Suede Shoes." Ringo has a cover of "Sure to Fall" on an album, and has performed "Honey, Don't" on almost every one of his All-Starr Band tours.

Paul McCartney recorded "Movie Magg," and there is an unreleased version of "Lend Me Your Comb" from the Russian LP sessions, not to mention two fine collaborations in the 80's, "Get It," and "My Old Friend."

So Carl Perkins indeed looms large in Beatles fandom and influence, both before, during, and after the Fab years.
