I cry to my daddy on the telephone
How long now?
Julie sighed softly and stepped back to allow them in. She was the last to enter, and quickly shut the door behind her, if not softly but nervously slamming it. Normally Julie wasn’t the one to bring comfort to others, or actually give a fuck about their problems, but tonight was different. Hailey was the sibling of Shayne, and it was clear that the she needed help. What’s more was that Shayne’s daughter was here too. And how could she turn them down when it was them who had allowed her to live in their apartment so long ago?
She called Diego to her side and got him to lie down, unsure whether his massive frame would somewhat frighten the little child amid them. Perhaps if he lied down and calmly carried on with his own being then it’d be clear to see that it wasn’t his intention to harm. Julie shifted to the side, hands in her pockets, as the room was engulfed in a morbid (love that word) quietness. Not the type of calm, gentle silence which made one relax and forget about the problems of oneself, but the type of silence which made one realize that malice was on its way. Julie’s cold auburn gaze trailed after the little girl as she paced around the room. She looked to Hailey as the girl’s words rang in her mind.
The 21 year old let her gaze fall on the floor as the other spoke. She looked up again and slowly shook her head. Actually you’re one of the many people I was hoping to see. Well maybe that wasn’t the right way to put it, but it was the best way to put it that she could think of without giving out more information than she wanted. At the moment there were a number of people on the rampage after her because either a) she owed them money, b) they wanted to tell her she’s fired, or c) try to kill her. She went over to where Hailey’s location on the couch was, and sat on the edge of the ancient, cobwebbed coffee table in front of her. By now she’d figured out a somewhat clear picture of what was going on.
Until the clouds unrolled and you come home
The line went
