Subject: In need of some objective advice

I'm in desperate need of some advice on how to handle a current situation with my employers.

I'm a seasoned nanny, with an associates degeree in early childhood development. I'm currently working part time to fininsh my bachelors in developmental psychology.

I love the family i'm currently with and we've been together for close to a year.

They just had a baby girl of which in now my charge along with her older toddler brother. To say the least things have been busy and it's been an adjustment for all of us.

Both children are fantastic but very high matienence (i'm really stressing this point).

So here is my problem.... at the begin of last week my boss asked me to work this saturday b/c her friend was coming into town. I agreed. However, my boss then went out of town for three days and I was stuck working overtime without being asked. One day i was there for over 11 hours. So Friday when my boss returned I told her that I felt really stressed out after this week and that I hadn't anticipated working overtime when agreeing to work on Saturday. I also explained to her about having classes on the weekends etc etc. Then I told her I thought it would be best if we found somebody else to look over the children for Saturday. I streesed to her that I wasn't trying to back out, it was just that I needed a break a breather for the weekend and I felt that if I didn't have this i wouldn't be able to give her children the quality care they needed. I also explained that her son had been needy and clinging, overly senstive and missed her a lot. Trying to suttly let her know that he needed her time.

Well the weekend passed, and today she's still angry with me. Not to mention how nasty she got after I told her about not working saturday. She won't even talk to me.

I feel taken advantage of and disrespected. Like all she cared about was getting out and wooping it up with her friends- at the cost of her overworked nanny and her childrens frustration.

What should I do. Is this my fault. Is she overeacting.

Lastly i want to say that i've given her several names and resources for qualified weekend babysitters, she hasn't acted on interviewing or even contacting any of them for back up and lastly i don't get paid overtime.

Please Help!!
