It's pretty easy if you sign up with an agency. Search the internet, your yellow pages or look on the sites linked to this site to find agencies in your area (the area you want to work in).

Shannon,
Actually, if you are looking in your area, most reliable nanny agencies will NOT work with someone without at least a years experience. However, many agencies that place west and mid-west girls on the East Coast will place you in a live-in situation if you have a lot of good babysitting references. If you really want to stay where you are and are very serious about this, then I would recommend getting a job in a day care center for a few months to get some experience working with kids on a regular basis and do babysitting for some of the families that bring their children to get references. I would also watch the newspaper and talk with families who advertise there. Many will consider hiring someone with no experience. Check out the many links on the NAN homepage to get more info about interviewing, contracts, etc. to help you out if you look on your own. Good luck!
