Well, I figured the ortho would just make it thinner in that spot, but he ground off the whole back area back there on the left side around my 1st molar! It looks unsymmetrical now, with that side being shorter, but hey, it's functional! and no longer hurty! :) I guess he figured there was no way of knowing how thin he would have to get it to keep it from rubbing that spot, and if he ordered new retainers, they might do the same thing, plus it takes weeks to get them in. It's just amazing that these little bitty retainers stay in in the first place, and after he ground down one side, it STILL stays in! Very cool!
