WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING

I'm really not too sure what I want to say
but i figured i'd say it better in writing
so below is what i've decided to express
understand though, to me, these feelings are frightening

You were lying so peacefully facing the wall
trying to escape the harsh reality into a dream
I was hugging you when i suddenly realized
it came to me like a rushing stream

I just wanted to hold you forever
wanted to hold you so tight and never let go
While you were sleeping in a peaceful mind
I realized something you should probably know

I didn't care what tests life was giving us
so long as you were beside me, we'd get through
I saw a flash of the way i've been acting
I felt so ashamed of how i was treating you

While you were so peacefully sleeping
I realized exactly what you mean to me
An emotion i've never before felt so strong
Arised from somewhere unknown, for me to see

I couldn't seem to hug you tight enough
it was like my heart had started to burn
the only way I could get closer was to become part of you
it kind of frightened me, i didn't know where to turn

So i kissed you softly on your shoulder blade
hoping i wouldn't wake you from your peaceful sleep
yet wanting you to grasp me into your arms
I wanted to hold you close and look into your eyes deep

I let you remain in your peaceful dreamworld
where all your troubles seemed so far away
While you were sleeping I suddenly realized
I wanted to be with you til my dying day

My heart was burning strong inside me
and total peace took over my troubled soul
the thought, I'd found my one true love
erased my doubts leaving me completely whole

I can't describe the feelings that came
but while you were sleeping, my heart fell in love
The deepest emotion any person could feel
I doubt any word could express it enough

While you were lying so peacefully in a dream
I looked ahead to my future and saw you
I realized then just how much love i felt
and dreamed so tenderly of the day we say "I do"
