Putting people who use music and people who use single frequency tones would cerate too many classes. They would be allot of people in their own class then. Most kids who have access to tones use them. Most kids do not use single frequency sine wave tones because they either do not have a CD with them or they do not know what they are. But, if you give them a CD to use with tones on it then they will usually use them. Using single frequency sine wave tones is among the most basic fundamentals of competition. I do not think that just because some of the competitors use music for SPL competition that everyone should be forced to use it. If they are using music its because they are new to the game and do not have much experience with SPL competition, or because they simply do not have a CD with the tones. I think that all competitions should be based around the fundamentals that the large companies use (i.e. MECA, dB. Drag, USACi, IASCA, SLAP), regardless of the most of the competitors are new to the game.
