NEW YORK, Nov 11 (Reuters) - EchoStar Communications Corp. (nasdaq: DISH - news - people) fell on Tuesday before the open after its quarterly results missed Wall Street's targets and its subscriber growth slowed.

EchoStar fell to $34.50 before the opening bell after ending at $36.80. The company said delays in delivering several new products dragged on subscriber additions in the third quarter.

Business software maker Oracle Corp. (nasdaq: ORCL - news - people) rose to $12.68 before the bell after ending at $12.57, while PeopleSoft Inc. (nasdaq: ORCL - news - people) fell to $21.30 before the market opened from a finish of $22.05.

Oracle said it may give up its hostile $7.3 billion bid for PeopleSoft if its target continues to offer refunds on software license fees under any takeover, The Wall Street Journal said on Tuesday.

Equity futures pointed to a slightly lower open. December futures for the Standard & Poor's 500 slipped 2.30 points to 1,043.70, while futures for the Nasdaq 100 lost 4.50 points to 1,412 and futures for the Dow Jones industrials eased 17 points to 9,721.
