I hope this sheds some light on this.
After AIT in Aberdeen Proving Grounds as a 45H20, ENTAC repair, I was assigned to the 528th HEM CO, at Ft. Lewis, WA. I was newly activated and I joined it around Spring of 1967. I'm May of 1968 we were ordered to Vietnam, lock, stock (a lot of stock) and barrel. Went over on the USNS Barrett. After landing in Quin Nhon, we convoyed to Pleiku. When we got ther our designation was changed to the 618th.
Hope this helps.
