Multiples

Among my friends I count two people who are among multiple tenants of single bodies. Actually because I know several of the tenants, I count more than two people. I may know others who have not yet chosen to tell me.

The question is "how would I react?". Well, it's more how did I react. The first perosn I met feared I would run from him in fear or loathing. Instead I asked him questions about how this came to be. And I learnt more about something I knew to be real, even though I found I was floundering.

As days passed I learnt more and more. And my friend helped me to understand the condition. I have learnt that it is NOT a "disorder", but is a survival mechnism of awesom power. I am certain that no multiple is insane. Arther they are sane because of their multiple nature. But this talkes the ability to listen and to understand to discover.

I know that each perosn who lives inside the body or a multiple perosn is as real as any perosn I meet inthe street. That he or she has al the same feelings, sensibilities and reatcions to other people as do you or I. I even understand the specialised amnesia-like barriers that allow different people in the same body to be able to refuse to share personal experiences,both pleasant and awful.

I'm not an authority. I simply know two (well, more as I said) people who have stable multiple lives. And they are teaching me all the time.

I make mistakes. And they correct my thinking.

My overall reaction? I like all the people I have met within the bodies (there HAS to be a better expression than that). With some I have played, with others argued, with others debated life. They are people. With all the rights that people have.
