The point is that drug users are people. We should try to help them stay alive long enough for them to realise that drugs are not the way. If they die in a gutter today, they've lost their chance (tomorrow) to kick their habit, and EVERYONE has lost whatever they might achieve later in life.

I hate drugs, I am VERY anti-drugs (anyone remember the lame-ass "Just Say No" campaigns of some years ago? I was in them) but I am NOT anti-drug-addict. I always think - there but for...

Anyways, I can't, don't and won't ever condone the various churches in their homophobia, but I will say that the compassion shown to the addicts should be more broadly understood and followed.
