Subject: Continuity Glitches.

Saw the DVD version of The Butterfly Effect the other week (or it could've been month) because I heard it had a different ending (in the actual movie, as opposed to a deleted scene), and I was struck by a really stupid continuity glitch.

Ashton Kutcher kills his girlfriend's brother in a fit of rage, then goes to prison. He then asks his mother to bring his journals so he can read them and will himself into the past.

My question is . . . how quick is the American legal system? Between getting arrested, going to trial, and being sentenced, are we expected to believe that Kutcher had no time to look at his journals previously? THat he had to wait until he was sentenced and actually put in prison before he got an opportunity to ask for them and look at them?

Anyway, jus thought that was worth mentioning.
