Subject: Bad movie endings.

Watchted The Bourne Identity last week, and it wasn't a bad flick until the very end. Then Matt Damon showed up on the doorstep of his girlfriend Franka Potente, and presumably they lived happily ever after running her cafe.

Insert disbelief here.

The character was trainged as a killer, was a mulitple killer, and now I'm asked to believe he can just sit back and run a little cafe? Maybe if he was 80, but he obviously isn't.

Then there's Stigmata = underrated little flick, but with a shocking end. After suffering 6 signs of the stigmata, we're meant to accept that Patricia Arquette's just going to go back to her life, maybe go hang around in the hair salon and have a chatter with the friends?

The tape I saw contained an alternate ending in which Patricia Arquette dies from the stigmata (as Gabriel Byrne sorta forecast), which was much truer to the story.

Now I'm not against happy endings, but first and foremost you've got to be true to the story, and when you insert these happy-crappy endings - mostly to satisfy the audience - then you just betray the piece.
