Have any of you guys watched any Chinese films? I'm not necessarily talking about the 70's chop-socky movies (although a lot of them are great), but more recent modern-day ones.

If you ever get a chance, go rent Hard Boiled, starring Chow Yun Fat and directed by John Woo. Forget all the other crap the both of them have done in America, this is their masterpiece. In fact, Chow Yun is severly wasted in America. A lot of Jackie Chan's earlier stuff is a hell of a lot better than what he has done currently in America (Armour of God, Dragons Forever, Police Story just to name a few).

Also, another that has really pissed me off, it seems that there have been a lot of old Jackie Chan / Jet Li DVD's coming out with overdubs. I have been lucky enough to see most of these films well before they were brought to DVD (I have a mate whose dad gets them from Hong Kong) and am frankly just appalled how the movie has been wrecked. Some of the scenes have been cut out for no reason!

Do you prefer films with subtitles or for them to be overdubbed?
