Please explain exactly how it's my fault per your statement "If you did not go to meetings to elect or the monthly HOA meetings then that is your fault."? When it wasn't even an item on the agenda, how was I supposed to know they were going to discuss and vote on it?

Now, had I known, and still didn't show up to the meeting, that would be a different story.
