Subject: ? Interbreeding russian and chinese dwarf hamsters

Me and my boyfriend have a question regarding a female chinese dwarf hamster we have.

Let me give you some background information:
We have had a female chinese dwarf hamster for about two years. She was in a cage with a russian male dwarf the whole time, but they never bread. Recently the dwarf russian died and the chinese one fell into depression. SO we got another dwarf russian that was about 1 month old. The person in the store said that she was probably a female. We had her for about 2 months before our ferret killed her. However, we have noticed a few days ago the surviving chinese dwarf had gained allot of weight and doesn't leave her shelter except to eat. We are concerned that she is pregnant. We think that the russian dwarf that have just died was actually a male. I know this all might sound crazy to you. But the lady in the pet store recommended puting chinese with russian hamster. I was not trying to breed, and honestly didn't know much about dwarf hamsters in the first place.

Now my questions are:
What should we do to prepare for the birth? Is there a special food she should eat? What about shelter? How many babies can we expect? What should we do with them after they are born? How long should they stay with the mother? Will the babies even survive?

Please help we are desperate, we were not expecting this at all.

Thank you for your help,
-Anna
