I see this sonnet being more complimentary. If you were being blunt it would have more of a sarcastic feel to it. It doesnt strike me as sarcasim or bluntness. He even goes to the extent of calling her a goddess. If n e thing this can be turned into being a sort of love letter for his so callled dark lady. Perhaps he was trying to impress her.
