After reading & paraphrasing Sonnet 130 on your own,
explain the following:

1. Explain the couplet at the end of this sonnet. How
does it alter the meaning of the sonnet?

Through the whole sonnet Shakespeare is making this woman sound awful by comparing her to bad things. Then at the end he says he loves her even though she isn't as pretty as she could be.

2. How does Shakespeare mock aspects of the
traditional sonnet in Sonnet 130?

Sonnets usually praise someone or something and in this sonnet Shakespeare is doing the opposite until the very end of it. It completely flips the whole thing around.
