Shakespear's diction conveys the season by illustrating what he feels to the reader. Phrases like [...]these boughs[...]shake against the cold show the season to the reader's mind.
In this sonnet, season signifies the stage of life that the author is in. The season is used to demonstrate that the author's life is drawing to a close.
