Oh no! This isn't autobiographical at all, is it? ;-) Your sonnet is just fine, Kay! Your rhyme is dead on, and you have some great word choice for your end rhymes. If the iambic pentameter is bugging you (da-DUH, da-DUH), it's probably because it's difficult to warp the syllables to do what you need to do. For example, let's say we want to work the word "explain" into iambic pentameter force it in where it sounds a bit awkward, where the reader woudl have to pronounce it "EX-plain" to make it work--this is a common problem. And if this is the only problem you've had, I say you've done well!
