Shakespeare's diction described the season as cold and harsh, and how the branches were "bare" and the "yellow leaves" shows a harsh fall. It give it a cold desolate feeling. The season is significant, because he is talking about people dieing, and sleeping, and the season is much reflecting on the mood and illustrations of these people, and how they reflet on the time of year, and time of day.
