Working together with David Orchard to build a better Canada is not the problem.

Its the method by which he decided to grasp some small amount of control over the party.

Orchard should simply have said he was allowing his supporters to vote their own minds, and let the democratic process worked. Men like Scott Brison and Jim Prentice have integrity and stand up for their ideas. Orchard supporters would have been treated with the respect and dignity they deserve and together we could have moved the party forward in a way that no political party in the country has seen in generations.

Working together, in the open, would have allowed Mr. Orchard to express his views in a setting devoid of controversy. He'd have expanded his political capital beyond measure.

In such a scenario, the Party could have agreed to the "Blue Ribbon" commission and we'd be hailed as being inclusive and welcoming - modern and open - instead of our leadership being painted as buying power at all costs.

David Orchard has a lot of culpability in all of this, the blame does not rest solely on the party establishment and Peter MacKay.

We were inches away from history there folks. Thanks to the actions of a limited few, we've all been screwed. We may well be reduced to the last party in the house with only a few seats, and no opportunity to try to change things until 2008-2010.

I for one intend to continue to fight for what is right. I will speak to blue Tories, red Tories, Orchard supporters and people outside our party.

One day we will restore this party to the position of power it deserves to hold, but it will only happen when we surround ourselves with people of true principle.
