There was something going on up in space other than damage to the orbiter. If there were damage to the shuttle and they were trying to repair this for three days , why wouldn't they just go and wait at the new orbiting spacestation for NASA to send another shuttle to their rescue. Were the astronauts frightened of something so much they had to leave for the safetly of earth almost immediatly? Could they have been in conference with aliens and something went completely wrong and they felt threatened to leave for earth's safety. And the ufo/ship altered their reentry stability knowing of the shuttle's age and heat shield damage? Well, these questions are only this, questions.
