I totally agree with you Julia.

The implication of violence, or it's resulting damage, has always been a cornerstone of many of the best directors of all time. Hitchcock could frighten or disturb with the best of them, yet he handled violence with implication, not overt gore. Today, however, the public has come to expect the explicit and I fear that without it, many lose interest or think less of a product with out it.

I absolutely love Bing Crosby. The Bells of St. Mary is in my collection and one of my favorite movies. The man was charming, and gentle on screen, and had a voice like velvet.

One of my favorite Bob Hope movies isn't a total comedy. The Seven Little Foys saw Bob Hope in a not always likable light. He gives a good performance and the moments with the child actors isn't as cloying as often is the case in such movies of the day.
