I've not done it yet, but I can tell you how I would.
I'd unhook the exhaust downpipe and the necessary coolant/oil lines from the turbo, all the hose and wire connections from the head and intake, pull the head bolts, and pull the head, intake, exhaust manifold, and turbo as one unit. It'd have to be easier than unbolting all of it in the car.

Under car:

Disconnect exhaust from turbo.
Disconnect turbo to block mounting bracket.
Disconnect oil and coolant return lines.

Up above:

Disconnect wire harness to injectors.
Disconnect throttle cable, tps/ais harness.
Disconnect air box/IC line to throttle body.
Loosen timing belt and slide off of cam pulley.
Remove valve cover.
Remove head bolts.

Get some help and lift that sucker off there!
