Subject: Clutch recomendations?

Ok, so I finally got my stock ic installed, and plumbed up. It works great! Now a new problem has come up. Full throttle and full boost in 3rd 4th and 5th results in major clutch slipage. Ok, no big, I'll put a new clutch in it. I used to be able to round trip the tranny in a Daytona with hand tools and a helper in about an hour, so even though I'm a little rusty now, a clutch still shouldn't be a big deal. The only thing is that the Daytona is my daily driver, so I have to get a clutch in it now, and I'm out of work, so I'm limited on funds. With that said, what brands of discount auto parts store clutches can you guys recomend?
I really wish I had the money to drop on one of Gary's clutches, and the time to wait on it to ship, but I don't. So, I'm pretty much stuck with something from Advance, Autozone, Napa, etc... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Tony

Thanks for the tip Gabe, but I'm really interested to see if anybody has had any luck with a low $ clutch holding up against a modified engine. The price is right on the Dynapak (Fenco) clutch from Autozone, but I can't find anything about them as far as how well they hold up. It's wierd, I looked on The Dodge Garage to see what clutches Gary recomended, and which to stay away from, and nobody around here seems to carry any of the brands that he mentioned (either good or bad). So, I'm still at a loss. I've got to put a clutch in it within the next day or two, but I don't want to go with something that will fail in a few weeks.
Any ideas?
Tony

The Centerforce II clutch I have works great & is actually made by LUK. LUK clutches can be found for cheap at several parts stores. I think Autozone carries them. I'm not sure that the discount one's are the same as the Centerforce though. I can email you a pic of the pressure plate tonight so you can compare if you find one. Email me at RTB@onewest.net if you want me to send you a pic.

Rich,
Thanks for the advice, but I've already got the new clutch sitting on the floor ready to go in. I ended up going with the Dynapak clutch from Autozone. The price was right ($100 for the kit including a new throwout bearing and an alignment tool.) and it looks to be a pretty well made unit.
I've got some pictures of the disc and pressure plate I'll post here when I get a chance (They're posted now on Moparchat.com in the FWD forum). I'm going to break it in at 7 psi for a few hundred miles, and then I'll give it a stress test. I'll let you know how well it holds up.
Thanks,
Tony

Finally got around to posting the pics. Here's what I ended up with. I just hope it'll last until I rebuild the engine. I'll be using one of the 4 puck setups from Relentless then.
Thanks for all the advice!

These clutches DO NOT work under high boost applications. Mine slipped tremendously @ 18 psi. If you are looking for a stout piece I put the RPS 4-puck with pressure plate in and DAMN that thing is SOLID. I would suggest if you don't like chatter don't go with a ceramic clutch though. (RPS is about the best I've used in mine) RPS makes turbo specific clutches and they are a far cry better thanthe Centerforce.

Squirrel is right. RPS clutches as a full production clutch (not custom made jobbies) rank as the highest clamping force for our TD applications. This is no joke. I have used 4 different set ups in my 2.5. As I have modified her and gained more HP's, I have slipped them all. The RPS with the new 6 puck (3 ceramic, 3 carbon fiber composite) should handle 330 whp from my new set up. Actually, I have a Centerforce II sitting on my shelf with less than 3000 miles on it. Excellent shape, still in the orignal box. $75 plus shipping. Good luck.
