] Date Posted: 06:14:16 01/23/03 Thu In reply to: ACR2NV 's message, "need guidance" on 19:12:42 01/12/03 Sun I run a 2.2L in my SC and it is JUUUUUST FINE! 2.2s are a little better, reving higher, they do lose a little torque but with 337wfpt before I broke mine I think that's plenty. 2.5 pistons have a smaller skirt too so the pistons aren't as stout as a 2.2 I would say if the car is set up for a 2.2 no need to change it now. Mine is just fine the way she is and I have no intentions of going 2.5 any time soon. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |

Date Posted: 12:00:33 01/23/03 Thu Personally I think it's just a matter of flow. The 2.5 could be a screamer, but the 8 valve heads barely flow enough for a 2.2. My car came with a 2.5, and I'm out of money so I'll just keep short shifting and enjoying the torque. :-) Tony [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 22:07:24 01/31/03 Fri Believe it or not I think it may actually be more crucial for a smaller displacement motor to have a well breathing cylinder head that one that is larger (when comparing the two).....reason being is the smaller motor has the mechanical ability to turn more RPM....it just needs the flow/volume to do so. The larger displacement motor cannot turn as high a RPM as the smaller motor but yet pumps more air early due to the increased cylinder volume.......well within the flow ability of our pathetic heads as it is at such a low RPM.....this is where the excellent torque numbers on a 2.5 come from. IMO the 2.5 is the best warmed over stock motor between the two....it's displacement works well with the flow characteristics of a stock type head. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |
