Subject: New Ring Rules per Michel Valladon (thanks Michel)

Last week Rick Maples asked me to translate a letter he had just received from G.T.R. (french Ring board) about "Ring Rules".
I send you a copy for your information.
You can read the letter in a good french (it's good for your practice of french language) and (or) you can read the translation in english (good for the practice of my poor english).
There are not � rules modifications � but only � clarifications �.

DEPART DE CHAQUE EXERCICE : une fois la mise en place obtenue et le blocage facultatif dans les 2 secondes, il n'y a pas lieu de maintenir l'attente, pour le d�but de l'exercice plus de 3 secondes et cela � tous les d�parts.

Translation :

DEPARTURE of each exercises : when the dog is ready (maximum 2 seconds between "position command" and "fixation command") the judge must horn within maximum 3 seconds.

POSITIONS : Celles-ci ne doivent pas �tre maintenues plus de 5 secondes.

Translation :

POSITION : maximum 5 seconds between each change of position.

RAPPORT D'OBJET AU VU : Le chien doit suivre au pied, dans un rayon d'un m�tre, d�s le commandement du conducteur, sinon perte de tous les points de l'exercice .

Translation :

SEEN RETRIEVE : the dog must follow the handler within 1 meter at the start of the exercise. At the departure of the seen retrieve, if the dog stays, goes to play, etc. . ZERO at the exercise.

ATTAQUES : Face, Fuyante, D�fense, Garde au ferme, Fuites, le tarde � l�cher ne doit �tre pris en compte qu'� la fin du commandement de cessation et � condition que l'HA soit immobilis�.

Translation :

For all the attacks : the penalty "slow to release" must be apply only if the dog is still biting after the END of the handler's command and only if the decoy is immobile.

FUITES : la distance est en multiple du m�tre, 1,2,3, etc..( 1,80m = -1 )

Translation :

Escapes (search, attack with gun) : only whole penalties.

Example : escape 1.8 meters . penalty = -1, escape 2.4 meters . penalty =-2

DECOUVERTE : La sortie de l'HA, autoris�e par le juge, doit se faire lorsque le conducteur se trouve � environ 5 m

Translation :

SEARCH

First escape : the decoy is allowed to escape, only after the judge's authorization and when the handler is at about 5 meters from the blind.

GARDE d'OBJET : L'HA ne doit pas reculer pendant l'approche, en tout �tat de cause , la p�nalit� devra tenir compte de la distance la plus rapproch�e de l'HA (la main ou toute autre partie du corps ) pendant le passage et non au moment o� le chien fait sa prise , surtout s'il y a recul.

Translation : during an attempt the decoy is not allowed to step back. The penalty depends of the shortest distance between the basket and the decoy (hand, etc. ...) during the attempt and not when the dog bites (specially if the decoy has moved back during the attempt).

DEFENSE : Le conducteur ne doit pas s'immobiliser avant la conversation avec l'HA

Translation :

Defense : the handler is not allowed to stop BEFORE the conversation with the decoy.
