Hi,

I am a severely dyslexic student who went to five different elementary schools and every school told me they couldn't me how to read and write. With hard work and parents who understood I just learn uniquely for them other student. If it was not for the Gow school and my parents support I would not be in grad school today with a 4.0. Dyslexic's think in pictures and the English language is not taught in picture format. Actually almost nothing is taught in pictures dyslexics need to take written form and turn it into picture form.
If she has a low self esteem I would not hold her back. I would look in getting a tutor for her after school. The best would be a education or special education student from a local college. If there are colleges close to your home I would put flyers up in the school looking for a interested tutor. Contact the Gow School South Wales, NY and ask them to email you RL cards. RL = reconstructive language. Start teaching her them it will help with reading. I would look into sending her to their summer program.
Hope this helps,
Nick
