My son too is in College, in a major university. He is also putting in every effort just like your boyfriend. He is also struggling very much. We have decided to take him out and try a smaller university. My husband, my son and myself have all tried to speak with the university about the lack of assistance for him and his Dyslexia. They don't care one bit. Their attitude is that there are 2,000 kids waiting to get in right behind him. They have told him that he can't cut it and he should drop out! Why in the world would you tell a kid to "just drop out?" Well, he can cut it. Most people with Dyslexia are in the superior range of the IQ. I think most of these big schools have no customer service at all. My son is very smart and we will find a way to over come this. He was told today by his advisor that he should enroll in the local community College for automotive! Really...let me tell you that my son, no matter what I have to do will find a way to beat the system. He will succeed in college! Tell your boyfriend to keep his head held HIGH, study on...His real skills will come when he is hired and working in his field! Dyslexia is a fight everyday and Dyslexic kids learn how to fight at a very early age! Don't let them win! It's a struggle. I have watched both of my kids struggle for years in school. I always have been at their side. Stay with him, help him and let him know how proud you are of him for staying with it!
