Hi, Maruice;
You are ahead of where I was when I entered the community college with the goal of moving on to a 4 year university. Sadly, I did not get good grades, read at a 5th grade level and had no study skills.
Needless to say, I was shocked to learn I had no idea what I was in for. I only knew I had to read well, learn well and retain what I learned.
I did learn to read well and along with study and learning techniques and comprehension experiments, I did learn to read in front of others, make long and complex presentations and memorize long (congressional material) texts.
Because of the techniques I was forced to develop, I got the B.A. degree, and earned very good income all the while, no one knew I was severely dyslexic (except my family).
The best way I could think of to let others who had similar fear of reading in public, low retention and other skills required for success that are related to reading was to start a blog and write a small book- so I did.
If you like, you may like to visit the blog: imdyslexicyouredyslexic.blogspot.com but the actual techniques I developed and have now used my entire career (I am retired now) to overcome the reading and comprehension problems I also faced are in the small book by the same name: I'm Dyslexic, You're Dyslexic. Available from Amazon in electronic and paper form.
If I can be of assistance, feel free to contact me at desertrosewood@gmail.com
