I work as an academic support worker in higher education with students who have dyslexia, dyspraxia and asperger's syndrome. Which is why I have subscribed to this magazine.

However, when I saw your posting I felt I had to reply!

My husband is fifty one years old and has dyslexia and dyspraxia. Even though both the dyslexia and dyspraxia are classed as mild, he has had significant difficulties in life. For much of his adult life he has been long term unemployed due to his disabilities.

When I read your posting, I initially thought my husband could contribute but unfortunately there is a significant barrier. He is unable to use computers. This is due to his more unusual form of dyslexia. I realize that many people with dyslexia find computers very useful and they are able to use them without difficulty. However, this does not apply to all people.

I feel that if you wished people to contribute to the forum, there should be an alternative form of communicating. So often nowadays people like my husband are expected to communicate via e-mail or even do online applications because there is an assumption that everyone is able to communicate this way. However, there are dyslexic people who are not able to communicate online. In the case of my husband this is directly related to his dyslexia.
