Hello.
I have an LCD like the one you are talking about, and the SEROUT command works for me.

SEROUT PORTB.0, 0, ["Hello"]

would work for T2400 on RB0. For more information on this command you can go to http://microengineeringlabs.com/resources/pbpmanual/. Also if the LCD is designed for use with a computer, you may need an IC like the MAX232 from Maxim (www.maxim-ic.com) to convert the 0-5V levels to -12 - +12V.
