Especially considering the last album was all covers. Even if there are some originals on there and they're working with Glen Ballard again, it's just odd that it has to be a Christmas album they release. They have dozens and dozens of songs they've written and recorded since 2000 and it just seems those songs will never see the light of day. As a major fan, I will definitely support anything they release or do, but I just wish they'd be releasing an album of all original non themed songs. I wonder if it's the only way they could get a record contract, just like when they were forced into releasing a covers album in 2004 instead of an album of original material. I suppose if this release goes well, maybe they'll be kept under contract and have the chance to release their own material one of these days.
