I was born in Garston and lived in Chesterton St, No 102,until age 5, I vividly remember the Blitz and spent many a night in the shelters as the Germans went after the Ellesmere Port refinery, the docks and the airport, can any one remember which branch of the US Airforce was based at Speke? my dad was a merchant seaman and saw sevice throughout WW2,his name was also Peter and his brothers, all now sadly deceased, were Johnny,Mick,Joe and Barney, for some strange reason they shared two surnames,Cummings and Edwards, I still have two elderly aunts,Agnes and Tess, still living in Garston and hope to see them when I visit, from Canada, hopefully this year.
