In reply to: warren 's message, "Madeline's last names (?) Ops's Levels" on Tuesday, August 02, 01:07:02am

Frayn and Ellis were both names she used while pretending to be someone else on a mission, and so it seems extremely unlikely that either one would be her real name.

Sand was her husband's name, but we never had confirmation that she took it as her own upon marriage. (Many women do not. And given the rather dubious legality of a marriage of officially "dead" people, why bother changing names?) While it seems a definite possibility and far more likely than either Frayn or Ellis, it nevertheless remains unconfirmed and therefore is still speculation.

There's nothing wrong with speculating about her name and presenting possibilities, but the site, to be accurate, should state that it's speculation.

The same thing goes for the Level #s of people like Walter and Birkoff. It's fine (and I agree, quite fun) to try to figure out what they might have been by comparing them to other characters, but the site presents the conclusions as facts, when they aren't. If you added a disclaimer stating that these were guesses, I think that would be more accurate and therefore more helpful for people who want to use the site as a resource.
