My older brother had a truck very similar to yours. He had a 454 (started as a crate LS-6 in the 90's. Engine was built by Madcap Racing Engines that is now owned by Pro Stock driver V. Gains, so its a good shop with accurat Dyno numers. The engine made 607hp (not corrected) at the elevation of Denver Colorado.
At any rate, he ran a set of Hoosier Quick Time tires, with a 4,500 stall, 4.56 gears (no trans brake). He didnt really have any tractions issues with it.
I've done homework on building a Pro ET truck, and what I found the be the best traction device is the Caltrak bars.. They are built by Calvert Racing. Look up Calvert Racing on Yahoo and you'll find it. If you look at almost any Super Stocker car with leaf springs, you'll see them. They are excellet at customer service, and can help you to find a way to hook your truck up!
